The princess is in another castle: Making platform state visible
Platform teams invest heavily in making their clusters observable, but what about their users? This talk will share lessons from building and supporting internal platforms that help developers understand what happens when accessing platform services.

Meet the speakers
Platform teams invest heavily in making their clusters observable, with dashboards, telemetry, and alerts. But what about the platform's users? Developers rarely care about reconciliation loops or controller logs. They just want to know: Is it ready? Is it broken? Should they wait or act? Too often, deploying to Kubernetes feels like Mario wandering into random castles, hoping the princess, their service, is finally there.
In this talk, Sapphire will share lessons from building and supporting internal platforms. Attendees will learn how to surface intent and state clearly using CRD status fields, events, and UIs like Backstage and Headlamp. The ultimate goal is to help developers understand what is really happening and turn the platform from a side quest into a true service.
