Implementing zero trust network security with Cilium
In this session, the AzureBeast will show how to implement Zero Trust networking in Kubernetes and how Cilium supports it. After this session, attendees will have their first practical experience with Cilium Network Policies.

Meet the speakers
Zero Trust is often discussed, but it is not always implemented correctly in Kubernetes. In this session, the AzureBeast shows how to apply Zero Trust network security on Azure Kubernetes Service using Cilium. Starting from an empty environment, the session builds an AKS cluster with the native Cilium dataplane and applies default-deny and explicit-allow policies step by step. Attendees will see how identity-based networking works, how CiliumNetworkPolicies differ from standard Kubernetes policies, and how to test and validate traffic flows in practice. The session is hands-on, practical, and focused on real-world AKS scenarios, including common mistakes and how to avoid them.
