F-ing containers, how do they work?

In this talk, Øystein walks through the basic principles supporting continerization technology, how container/OCI images work and wraps up with some best practices of creating Dockerfiles.

Containers have all but taken over application deployment, but many users have not closely examined how they work. This talk explains how a file of only a few megabytes can seemingly contain a full Linux installation. It also explores the differences between virtualization and containerization and addresses whether containers really run with near-native performance. In this talk, Øystein helps the audience better understand a tool they use every day.
