James Webb is Sr. Technical Director of Products & Engineering at Pure Storage, where he serves as Field CTO for the Portworx business unit. He works closely with enterprise customers to design, scale, and operate resilient Kubernetes and container platforms across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments. Prior to Pure, James led the on-prem container platform strategy for one of North America’s largest telecoms, supporting production workloads at national scale. With over two decades in open systems infrastructure, he has delivered transformative initiatives including greenfield data centers, platform modernizations, and large-scale migrations. A platform engineer at heart, James focuses on enabling reliable self-service experiences for developers, integrating automation, observability, and resilience into every layer of the stack—while helping guide the Portworx product roadmap with field-driven insight.
