Gavin Munroe is Group Executive of technology and Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He joined Commonwealth Bank in 2022 and is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology, and technology infrastructure for all divisions across the bank. He is also responsible for security across the bank including cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience. Mr Munroe has more than 20 years of financial services experience. Most recently, he was the HSBC global CIO for wealth and personal banking. He joined HSBC in 2018 and has worked across retail banking, wealth management, private banking, insurance and asset management. Prior to HSBC, he was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was the Merrill Lynch CIO, head of global consumer products and CIO for wealth management technology teams. Mr Munroe has also previously been managing director of Asia-Pacific for Synechron, CIO at Saxon and head of technology for the West Coast US at Wachovia.
