Two years ago, Gonzalo Fernández Rodríguez and his team set out to transform their software development process by implementing an Internal Developer Platform (IDP). By modeling the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and adopting a "batteries-included" approach, they successfully streamlined development while maintaining the flexibility to create complex solutions. A standardized branching strategy was introduced, along with reusable workflows for building, testing, and deploying software across different environments, such as development, integration, staging, and production, ensuring consistency and reliability. Automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), self-service tools, and cost-aware dashboards further accelerated delivery, reduced operational costs, and empowered teams to take control of their processes.
