From skateboard to car: How to evolve your developer experience

In this talk we’ll look at on-demand environments as a way of providing your team with a fulfilling development experience. In particular, how you build systems to maintain the excitement and ease of collaboration, as you build out your product.
Talk abstract

So you got an idea for an app. You built it and got others to contribute. Maybe you even built a commercial product around it. And now the team is bigger, and the app is more complex, and it’s getting more crowded in the “sandbox”. How do you build systems to maintain the excitement and ease of collaboration as you build out your product? In this talk we will look at on-demand environments as a way of providing your team with a fulfilling development experience. You’ll learn about:

  • Building environments from scratch
  • Combining GitLab and Rancher to create environments on demand
  • Using Heroku to automate environment deployments
  • Picking off-the-shelf EaaS technology like Release, Okteto, Nomad, Ergomate and others
  • Most importantly you’ll be able to pick your own way of getting your review process from a “skateboard” to a “car”
